Meet our Medical Director

Dr. Gurdeep Parhar

gurdeep-cutoutDr. Gurdeep Parhar obtained his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Calgary and subsequently completed his postgraduate training at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster, B.C. He is a General Practitioner in the province of British Columbia with licenses to practice granted by both the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. He is an Associate Medical Staff at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster, B.C., Eagle Ridge Hospital, Port Moody, B.C and General Hospital, Burnaby, B.C.

In his capacity as a General Practitioner he provides medical care to patients at his medical centre at Burnaby Square Family Doctors, in Burnaby, B.C. He is responsible for the primary care of patients from pediatrics to geriatrics presenting with a wide variety of medical problems.

He is currently the Medical Director of CORE Medical Centre (Complete Occupational, Rehabilitation, and Environmental Medicine) in Burnaby, B.C. As Medical Director of this private and independent occupational health centre, he provides consultation services to assist in the rehabilitation of injured or ill workers. After a detailed assessment of the worker's condition, opinions regarding causation, treatment, and appropriate work modifications are provided.

He is the Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Practice, Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC).

Dr. Gurdeep Parhar is the Executive Associate Dean, Clinical Partnerships and Professionalism for UBC’s Faculty of Medicine.

He also teaches in the Preparation for Medical Practice (PMP) course which is a fourth year course taken by all of the medical students in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. During this course he is a Week Leader for the week long session entitled “Adult Back Pain”.

Dr. Parhar had previously been the Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, Faculty of Education, at the University of British Columbia. He designed and taught a course entitled “Medical Aspects of Disability” which is a mandatory course in the Masters of Vocational Rehabilitation Counselling Program at the University of British Columbia.

He is a Sessional Instructor in the Department of Continuing Studies, Applied Sciences Program, at Simon Fraser University. He designed and teaches a course entitled “Medical Disabilities – Physical Medicine”. This is a mandatory course in the Rehabilitation Management Diploma Program at Simon Fraser University.

Dr. Parhar served as a Medical Advisor to the Workers’ Compensation Board of British Columbia for five years. As a Medical Advisor he was frequently expected to review work incident reports, attending physician's reports, consultant's reports, radiological investigations, and to examine injured workers. After doing this, he was asked to offer an opinion in regards to causation, pre-existing pathology, most reasonable diagnosis, appropriate treatment options, expected recovery course, return to work plans, and permanent functional impairment.

Dr. Parhar held a position as the Occupational Physician for the City of Vancouver. In this capacity he was responsible for reviewing the health of injured and ill workers in the various departments of the City of Vancouver including the City of Vancouver Fire Department, Parks and Recreation, and Engineering Department. As the City’s occupational Physician he was expected to review work incident reports, attending physician's reports, consultant's reports, radiological investigations, and to examine injured workers. After doing this, he was asked to offer an opinion in regards to causation, pre-existing pathology, most reasonable diagnosis, appropriate treatment options, expected recovery course, return to work plans, and permanent functional impairment.

Dr. Parhar has testified as an expert witness in various court proceedings providing expert testimony in the fields of family practice and disability medicine.

Dr. S. Jain


Dr. S. Jain is an Internal Medicine Specialist who has special expertise and experience in cardiac stress testing, cholesterol conditions, diabetes, kidney conditions, gastrointestinal conditions and hypertension. It will be his role to review the cardiac stress and ECG results and offer his expert opinion on any concerns he identifies. He is also an excellent resource should there be the need for special tests or further specialty consultations.

Dr. L. Jain


Dr. L. Jain is an Internal Medicine Specialist who has special interest in geriatrics.

Devon Krahenbil


Devon Krahenbil is the Executive Assistant to Medical Director, Dr. G. Parhar. Ms. Krahenbil is the office manager at Welcome Medical and also at Burnaby Square Family Doctors. She is a certified Medical Office Assistant, and also has studied Human Resources. Ms. Krahenbil primarily manages the medical centre, and also assists Dr. Parhar with UBC work and scheduling.

Dr. A. Minhas


Dr. A. Minhas is an Internal Specialist with special certification in Sleep Medicine. He treats a variety of Sleep disorders and is the Director of the Sleep Lab at Richmond Hospital.

Dr. N. Bhanji


Dr. N. Bhanji is a Pediatrician who treats a variety of children’s illnesses and disorders.

Dr. A. Mathur


Dr. A. Mathur is an Optometrist. His education in Canada and clinical training in both Canada and in the United States in Houston, TX includes subspecialties in Retina and Glaucoma. He has a devoted interest in custom Post-Refractive surgery contact lenses, with published articles in this area. Graduating at the top of his class, he has extensive experience co-managing in a large Refractive Laser Surgery center. Additionally, he concentrates in the management of Computer Vision Syndromes and Vision Training.

Patrick Myers, PhD, RPsych


Dr. Myers is a registered psychologist with over 15 years of experience treating patients with stress, depression, chronic pain, addictions and other challenges. He has a BA in Psychology from the University of British Columbia, a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Acadia University and a doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta.

Ofir Vaisman


Ofir Vaisman is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, an ICBC Registered Counsellor and a registered counsellor with the Crime Victims Assistance Program. He has a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. He has experience counselling people experiencing depression, anxiety, grief and other issues.

Rosalina (Rosie) Lingad


Rosalina (Rosie) Lingad emigrated from the Philippines where she was a medical doctor specializing in pulmonary. She is currently a medical office assistant.
